IIT Bombay initiated 1.25 Lakh school students to become Student Solar Ambassadors.

This year, Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated by IIT Bombay in a special manner. The SoULS initiative of IIT Bombay led by Prof. Chetan S. Solanki in association with Techfest achieved a landmark feat. Over 125,000 students of class 8th to 12th from more than 850 schools across the country took a pledge of non-violence towards the environment by participating in the Solar Student Ambassador (SSA) workshop.

The students, spread across the country were trained on solar lamp assembly by over 1500 trainers at 823 training centres. The scale of the event was large drawing students from across the country including Punjab to Kerala. It also saw the presence of differently-abled children.
This was organized jointly by SoULS and Techfest, IIT Bombay.
