IIT Techfest's initiative -- SHE
Techfest's initiative, SHE-Sanitation & Health Education was launched recently.
The main motive of this campaign i to provide women and girls in the rural and economically backward regions with sanitary pads and to educate them about hygiene related to it. They have collaborated with various organisations including UNICEF, Rotary to provide support and volunteers in various parts of the country. The aim is to distribute a record of 3 lakh sanitary napkins in 25 towns, cities and villages between Mumbai and Nagpur and 150 BMC schools.
The website of the initiative was launched by Tapsee Pannu, followed by a panel discussion on the issue of the importance of menstrual hygiene and breaking the silence around menstruation in our society.
A bus dedicated for this cause will be travelling at 25 locations between Mumbai and Nagpur to spread awareness about the need for menstrual hygiene. The local NGO partners will help us in gathering women and girls for a closed room seminar.
